The Welsh Woman of the Year Awards, organised by the Western Mail, celebrated their eleventh year on November 19th 2004.
Glenys Kinnock MEP, Patron of the Awards, described the talent
of this year’s applicant’s as “breathtakingly high”.
Hundreds of women in Wales were nominated and indeed entered.
Eminent judging panels whittled the entrants down to just 31
finalists in 10 categories.
At a glittering awards ceremony at Cardiff’s leading
venue, The CIA, the 10 overall winners were announced. Amongst
the talent celebrated was the soprano Katherine Jenkins, who
won the Woman in Arts and Media category.
Dinah Pye, Founder of Active Music Services, won the Most Effective
Returner to the Workplace category. Dinah’s innovative
Internet business set up, focusing on classical music service
support for orchestras and festivals, is now providing clients
throughout the UK.
Dinah is in prestigious company indeed. Past winners include Tanni Grey-Thompson OBE, Dr Olwen Williams and Sarah Cornelius.
As from 21.5.10 Active Music Services has been contracted by CWMNI CURIAD CYF to be the sole distributor of their Choral, Solo and Instrumental sheet music.
